Cool Night, Hot Racing At “The Rock”
Cool Night, Hot Racing At “The Rock”

(Flat Rock, Michigan - May 7, 2011) - With rain once again hitting many areas around Flat Rock Speedway, the weather somehow avoided the track and Saturday’s Action Painting/Fasten Right Roofing Night show was completed. With a great effort by the race teams, the entire program was completed in just 2 hours and 15 minutes. Tim Moore, Gary Camelet, Robbie Loving and Brad Turner visited victory lane.
The ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock A Main saw the top 12 qualifiers draw for starting position for their 25 lap main event. Tim Moore jumped out to the lead at the green and led every lap to take the victory over a fast-closing Frank Jiovani. As Moore sailed out front, Jiovani, who started 7th, moved to 2nd by lap 15 and set his sights on the leader. Tim withheld several attempts by Frank to score the victory. Third went to Tadek Stadnizcuk, fourth was Scot Bunge and fifth went to Landon Schuster, followed by Chad Guinn, Rich Frantz, Dave Tanner, Josh Bunting and Rob Moore.
Gary Camelet returned to racing after several seasons on the
sidelines and edged Rich Abel by a car length to win the 15 lap DTS Drive Train
Specialists Street Stock B Main. Rookie
Rick Bennett took third, James Rae fourth and rookie Steve Searles came home
fifth. Michael Phillips, Anthony
Camilli, Billy Cronce, Jeff Luttermoser and rookie Mark Lavoie were next in
line to complete the top ten. Tim Moore
set the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts fast time at 13:397 for the 38 car
field. Michael Phillips paced the B Main
cars at 14:159. Heat race winners were
Dave Tanner, Arnold Kirsch, Brad Wyatt, rookie Nick Grzesik and Billy Cronce.
The Parts Galore Figure 8 field saw a complete inversion of
the entire field, making for great action. Dennis “The Rebel” Whisman zipped into the
lead at the green and had plenty of company as Robbie Loving wheeled in the
leader and took command on lap 11. Greg
Studt and Jeremy Vanderhoof whittled down the lead duo’s advantage, with both
getting by Whisman in the closing laps as Loving zipped to the win. Studt was just two car lengths down in
second, Vanderhoof was third, Whisman fourth and Jerry Lee fifth. Billy Earley, Sam Hall, Figure 8 rookie Steve
Chartrand, James Rae and Stephanie Bradley completed the top ten. Vanderhoof set the fast time at 20:389, with
heat wins to Whisman and Sam Hall.
2009 track champ Brad Turner zoomed to victory in the 20 lap
ARCA Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinder feature win.
David Price, Jeff Wells, Scott Marshall and Katie Caseo followed the
winner. Turner also won the heat and set
fast time at 14:792, a new 1 lap mark for the class.
