Toledo Wins To Froling, Loving, McCaughey, Brazeau

(Toledo, Ohio - May 6, 2011) - Weekly Friday night racing withstood a threat from Mother Nature at Toledo Speedway, allowing the 7-Up/PNC Bank Opener to be completed. Jim Froling is ready to defend his 2010 title and showed it by winning the ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman portion of the event. Jeremy Vanderhoof captured the Parts Galore Figure 8 main, while Cory McCaughey sailed to victory in the R & M Recycling Street Stock feature. Matt Brazeau capped off the night with the victory in the Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinder race.
The 35 lap ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman feature ran 35 laps, all green flag in just over 12 minutes. Scott Bross returned to racing after sitting out for a few seasons and led the first lap, with Greg Stilwell powering by to take command on lap 2. Jim Froling was on the move from his ninth starting spot, and by virtue of a great jump at the start, was able to grab the top spot by lap 3. Ron Allen made his move to the front and by lap 5 had climbed to third, setting his sights on the leader. With no yellows, Froling stormed away and held his advantage over Allen all the way to the checkered flag. Stilwell took third, Kyle DeLisle made up for a slow start and zipped to fourth at the stripe, with Mike Young fifth after having a great battle with Tom O’Leary IV in the final 10 laps. O’Leary, Norm Lewallen, Tom Adams, Kenny McKay Jr. and Bross completed the top ten. Allen set quick time at 17:271, with heat wins to Stilwell and Bross.
2006 track champ Jeremy Vanderhoof held back the charge of
Anthony Terris to win the 20 lap ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8 feature race. Jeremy had pressure from Greg Studt early on
in the event, but Greg got turned around by a lapped car, sliding him back in
the running order. Terris then took up
the chase and reeled in Vanderhoof but the duo would finish 1-2 at the
flag. Robbie Loving was third, Dennis
Whisman fourth and Sam Hall fifth.
Studt, James Rae, Nick Bradley and Stephanie Bradley followed. Loving captured the heat race.
An action-packed 25 lap ARCA R & M Recycling Street
Stock feature saw Toledo
resident Cory McCaughey take the victory after trading paint with Mike Hammer
as the pair battled for the lead. On the
start, James Rae held the lead for the first 7 circuits. McCaughey slipped to
the inside to take control on lap 8, followed by Hammer. Cory was able to break loose in the final 3
laps to secure the victory. Hammer took
second, Matt Ringger was third, Eric Huston fourth and Dennis Whisman
fifth. Rich Frantz, Rae, Craig
Osenbaugh, Luke Davis and rookie Kyle Huston completed the top ten
finishers. Huston set fast time at
11:877. Heat race winners were Ringger
and Osenbaugh.
The Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinder feature win went to Matt Brazeau
as he outdistanced Brad Turner, David Katafiaz, Perry Marlow, Jeff Wells and
Michael Marlow. Matt returned to action
after taking a break from racing and showed no signs of rust with his win in
the heat and the main event. Turner set
quick time at 12:481.
