Flat Rock, Toledo Champs Honored at MARFC Banquet; Fair with Pres Award; Root Driver of Year

(WARREN, Mich. - January 25, 2011) - The annual Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club Awards banquet held in Warren, MI January 15, honored track champions throughout the state of Michigan. Flat Rock Late Model champ Paul Pelletier, Street Stock B Main king James Rae and Figure 8 titlist Jeremy Vanderhoof were honored for their accomplishments.
Dennis Whisman, the 2010 Toledo Speedway Figure 8 champion, was also honored at the event.
The Harold Fair Sr. family (below right) received the President's Award for their many years in the sport. Harold Fair Sr. and Harold Fair Jr. accepted the award. The late Hugh Fair started the racing activity in the family and has been followed by both his son and grandson.
ARCA Late Model Gold Cup champion Mike Root was recognized for his 2nd Gold Cup title in a row, which is a 5-race series between the 2 tracks. Root was later honored with the presitigious Driver of the Year Trophy, presented by Terry Fitzwater of the Michigan Racing Scene. The surprised Root graciously accepted the honor and thanked his crew, sponsors and Fitzwater. The award is the highest honor in the state for oval track racers.
Ron Drager, President of ARCA and promoter of Flat Rock and Toledo, accepted the plaque for ARCA Racing Series champion Patrick Sheltra of Indiantown, FL. Sheltra had made plans to attend the banquet, but weather issues held Patrick at his home.
