Toledo's Glass City 200 Set for October 1; Weekly Support Classes to be Part of Event

(TOLEDO, Ohio - December 2, 2010) - The 23rd running of the Glass City 200 Super Late Model invitational will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Toledo Speedway. Track officials have also decided to return the track's weekly classes to be part of the prestigious event. The ARCA Sportsman, Figure 8 and Street Stock divisions will also compete at the Glass City oval on this date.
The event will continue to be held on the first weekend in October as it has for the past two years. The 2010 Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200 presented by Cherry Picked Auto Parts saw Harold Fair Jr. capture his second Glass City 200 title, in a race that was completed on Sunday's rain date. Only 10 laps were run Saturday night when the rains set in. The race was run the next day on a very rainy, cold and blustery weekend.
Track management has made the decision to add Toledo's weekly divisions back into the race card for the Glass City event. "After much discussion, the conclusion was that we need to include our Sportsman, Figure 8 and Street Stock classes as part of the Glass City 200 weekend," said Ron Drager, co-owner of the track with business partner Roy Mott. "We believe this will lead to a more successful race weekend and it gives our race teams a chance to race one more time before the season closes."
The Friday afternoon optional practice session will take place again, as it has for the most recent 200 events. Plans are underway to improve the Friday night race party at the Speedway Bar and Grille following the Friday, September 30 practice. More details will be announced at a later date.
Toledo's 2011 schedule, along with the 2011 Flat Rock Speedway schedule, will be released prior to January 1. Log onto http://www.toledospeedway.com/ or http://www.flatrockspeedway.com/ for information.
