2011 Openers Set at Flat Rock, Toledo Speedways

(TOLEDO, Ohio - November 15, 2010) - While winter may be just around the corner, the 2011 racing season is on the minds of many when it comes to Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways. The two ARCA-sanctioned short tracks have firmed up their opening nights for the upcoming season. Flat Rock begins its 59th consecutive season of racing Saturday, April 30, while Toledo Speedway's 52nd season starts Friday, May 6.

The complete schedules for both facilities are slated to be released prior to the New Year.

The quarter-mile paved oval at Flat Rock will see Saturday night racing through September, as is customary at the Southeastern Michigan track. The ARCA Late Models, Figure 8s and Street Stocks will kick off the new season Saturday, April 30, with full race programs for each class.

A pair of pre-season practices will take place, and are scheduled for Saturday, April 23 from noon to 5, and Wednesday, April 27 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The lightning-fast half-mile paved oval at Toledo Speedway will once again feature Friday night racing, with the first event set for May 6. The ARCA Sportsman will battle on the half-mile, while the ARCA Figure 8s, Street Stocks, and the Jeff's Collision 4-Cylinders will also hit the track for the Friday night opener.  2009_4_cylinders_three_wide_toledo.jpg

The Toledo Factory Stock class is being merged with the ARCA Street Stock class for the 2011 campaign at Toledo. The Factory Stocks will be permitted to compete with the Street Stocks with their same car - for the next 2 seasons only - at Toledo. In 2013, all cars will follow the ARCA Street Stock rules. The Street Stock division, which competes at Flat Rock each Saturday, should bring new drivers to Toledo for the Friday events.

Toledo will stage a practice session Sunday, May 1 from noon to 5 p.m.

Both tracks are in contact with several touring series to book dates for the upcoming schedule. The Monster Truck shows at Toledo will not be on the schedule in 2011, but the group has already given the track dates for their return during the 2012 season. Toledo is researching an April Sunday afternoon show to start the year, but no decisions have been made to date.

Current information will be available throughout the remainder of 2010 and the 2011 season at http://www.flatrockspeedway.com/ or http://www.toledospeedway.com/.
