Allen, Fair Jr. Lead Practice Session Friday for Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200
(TOLEDO, Ohio - October 1, 2010) - 2008 race winner Harold Fair Jr. and Ron Allen (No. 88 Giles Auto Body Ford) turned identical times to lead the practice session Friday afternoon leading up to Saturday's Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200 presented by Cherry Picked Auto Parts. 

A total of 33 Late Models were on the grounds, with Fair Jr. and Allen both turning a lap of 15:246 to lead their fellow challengers that will battle for 200 laps Saturday.  The winner of the 200 will take home $5500, with $1000 posted to start the contest on the lightning-fast ½ mile paved oval.  With contingency and bonus awards, a driver could walk away with over $8000 in prize money and awards.  The total cash payout for the day is over $50,000. 

kuhlmancandid10.jpgDakota Carlson, Brent Jack, 2009 winner Dave Kuhlman (left), Scott Hantz, Scott Baker, Mike Root, Derrick Griffin and North Carolina driver Brad Rogers rounded out the ten fastest cars.  Claude Plante Jr. had an engine let go and has withdrawn from the event.  The only incident of the day occurred when Brad Birr tagged the turn 2 wall.  Brad was able to drive off the track despite damage to the rear end of his car.

The CRA Sportsman cars (below/No. 101 Lauren Bush) also took laps, with Derrick Griffin, doing double duty, leading the group at 17:160.  A field of 20-25 cars is expected for the CRA  Sportsman R & M Recycling 50 lap main event.

Race fans also have a chance to cash in on a big prize as Allegiant Air will award 2 round-trip tickets from Toledo to Florida.  Fans will enter the drawing upon arrival to the track.  The winner's name will be drawn out at the lap 101 break of the 200 lap contest.

WXKR 94.5 Radio will host a live radio remote from the speedway from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with Andi McKay. crasportsman10.jpg

DTS Drive Train Specialists, Allegiant Air, PASSTIME, Port City Racecars, Burge Wrecking, Penske Shocks, All Star Performance, Lane Automotive, Bazell Race Fuels/Sunoco Race Fuels, Celebrations Fun Food Factory and Kish Ambulance have also pledged their sponsorship support for the race.

Saturday's schedule will have the pit area open at 9:30 a.m.  Practice begins at noon and the front gates also open at that time.  Time trials are set for 3 and racing begins at a special time of 5 p.m. October 2.
