Dave Arnold Jr. Claims First Win at Toledo

(TOLEDO, Ohio - June 25, 2010) - Dave Arnold Jr. held off the charge of Jim Froling and Ron Allen to win Friday night's Teamsters Local 20-sponsored 35-lap ARCA Sportsman feature race at Toledo Speedway. A good crowd saw Cory McCaughey pick up his third win in the ARCA Factory Stock race, while Howard Kelley Jr. and Tom O'Leary III captured the wild Figure 8 Train race.

One of the best Sportsman races on the competition side saw just one yellow flag for the event. Tom Adams Jr. took the lead at the green and stayed out front for 15 laps, while Kenny McKay Jr. and Dave Arnold Jr. started to reel in the leader. With an inversion of nine, fast qualifier Jim Froling (17.590) moved to fifth by Lap 10 and got to second by Lap 21. Arnold was patient and worked the outside lane and took the point on Lap 16.  Froling got to Arnold's back bumper by lap 26 and Ron Allen joined the lead duo to make it a three- car race. Froling looked to the high side and the yellow came out on Lap 32 when Norm Lewallen spun in turn 2. Arnold now had the top two point leaders on his deck lid, but was up to the task as he claimed his first-ever win at the wheel of Steve McMahon's No. 75.

Froling, Allen, McKay Jr., and Mike Young made up the remainder of the top five. Howard Kelley Jr. came from the 18th spot to sixth, with Kyle DeLisle Jr., Scott Lockenhour, Tom O'Leary IV and Andy Harding completing the top ten. McKay Jr., Lockenhour and Kelley Jr. took heat race wins.

Before the race started, Adam Plonski put his car on its lid on the parade lap. That ended his night with his teammate, Chad Coulter, also on the sidelines. Kelley and O'Leary III held on and avoided some wild traffic, spins and incidents on the way to the $750 payday. Dennis Whisman and Dan Apperson took second, Tom O'Leary III and Jim Brazeau third, Scott Apperson and Jeremy Fragassi fourth, Trina Apperson and Greg Stevens fifth, Tom O'Leary IV and Kenny McKay sixth, and Andy Holly and Ron Duvall seventh. After the race, tempers flared on the track, much to the delight of the crowd.
