ARCA Short Tracks Set To Open This Weekend

Toledo Speedway, entering its 52nd year of hosting oval track stock car racing, will open Friday night, April 30 with PNC Bank Night, and the first of ten Valvoline Instant Oil Change Summer Racing Series events.
Toledo area Valvoline Instant Oil Change customers will receive a Family 4 Pak (2 adults, 2 children) of tickets to attend one of the 10 Summer Racing Series events with the purchase of an oil change or other premium service offer, at any of the 9 Toledo area Valvoline Instant Oil Change locations. Fans will receive a voucher for the Family 4 Pak and will present the voucher and their sales receipt at the Toledo Speedway ticket office at any one of the 10 events for admission.
The dates of the Valvoline Instant Oil Change Summer Racing Series, all Friday night shows, are April 30, May 7, May 14, May 21, June 25, July 16, July 30, August 6, August 20 and August 27.
The Valvoline Instant Oil Change Summer Racing Series events will feature ARCA Sportsman cars competing on the Toledo Speedway half-mile oval, plus Factory Stocks and the 4 Cylinder car class racing on the track's inner quarter mile oval, and Figure 8 racing. The PNC Bank Night also features Armed Forces Night, with admission offered to those with Military ID.
In preparation for opening night at Toledo, 29 cars of all varieties tested Wednesday afternoon on the renowned half-mile oval including Dennis Strickland in his no. 90 ARCA Outlaw Late Model. In addition to the outlaw cars, drivers from the Sportsman division, the Factory Stocks, Figure-8s and ARCA Truck Series participated in the open test.
Spectator Gates will open Friday night at 5pm, with time trials scheduled for 6:15pm and the racing action beginning at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, $3 for students and kids under 6 are free. For current information, log onto http://www.toledospeedway.com/.
Flat Rock Speedway in Flat Rock, Michigan will also host its opening night this Saturday, May 1 with 7-Up and Corrigan Oil teaming up to sponsor the first race of the 2010 season at the 1/4 mile paved oval.
The ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models, which were originally not scheduled for May 1, have now been added to the race card. The track will also play host Armed Forces Appreciation Night Saturday evening.
A big 4 division program is now set for Saturday night. The ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks, Figure 8's, 4 Cylinders and the Late Models will provide the action at "The Rock" for the initial event of the year.
All military personnel, both active and retired, will be admitted FREE as guests of the speedway for the May 1 contest. Proper military ID is required and should be presented at the ticket windows.
The May 1st 7-Up/Corrigan Oil Opening Night schedule has the pit area opening at 1:30 p.m., practice at 3, time trials at 5 and racing at 7 p.m. The front gates will open at 3 p.m. Adults are just $11 each, children 6-14 are $3 and under 6 are free. No coolers, cans or bottles are permitted in the main grandstand or on the spectator hill at Flat Rock Speedway.
Sunday, May 2 is the date for the Flat Rock Historical Society Flea Market, which has been held at the track for nearly 40 years. Admission to the grounds is free. Hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. For space rental information, please call 734-782-5220.
In addition to Toledo, Flat Rock has hosted open tests this spring - two in fact, yielding 60 cars in the first open test and 32 in the next.
