Practice Session Prepares Teams for Saturdays Toledo Opener

TOLEDO, OH (4-16-10)-- The ASA NORTH LATE MODEL SERIES and ARCA Allegiant Air Gold Cup Late Models waited out the rain and completed a 3 hour practice session Friday afternoon in preparation for the Glassbreaker Season Opener Saturday afternoon, April 17. The practice started at 4 p.m. after a 3-hour rain delay.

Griffin McGrath was the fastest ASA North Late Model Series car with a lap of 16:219, followed by Eric Jones, Eddie Hoffman, Brandon Watson and Jesse Saunders. A total of 19 cars took laps at the ½ mile paved oval Friday.


The ARCA Alleigant Air Gold Cup Late Model series also hit the track in preparation for their first race of the season. 18 ARCA Late Models also practiced Friday, with defending champ Mike Root and 2-time Gold Cup champ Harold Fair Jr. among them. Flat Rock/Toledo champ Dennis Strickland was also on hand to test his new machine for Saturday’s event.


Each division is expecting several mores cars tomorrow morning for the first race of the season at Toledo.


Saturday will see a short practice session for each group, beginning at 10 a.m. Qualifying starts at 12:30 and racing begins at 3 p.m. An on-track autograph session is planned prior to the feature events. Tickets are $18 for adults, children 6-14 are $3 and under 6 are free. A rain date of Sunday, April 18 has been established. Toledo Speedway is located at the I-75/Alexis Road exit on the Michigan-Ohio border.
