NASCAR Drivers Busch, Ragan, Racer's Reunions, Race Cars and Racing This Weekend

TOLEDO, OH: (8-10-09): The 2009 racing season is beginning to wind down, but there are 2 action-packed, full race schedules this weekend at Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways. Two of NASCAR's youngest stars will headline the Friday night and Saturday night shows, with Kyle Busch racing at Toledo Friday, August 14 and David Ragan making a visit to Flat Rock Saturday, August 15. Racer's Reunions will be held for the past stars of both tracks each night, several vintage race cars will be on display and the usual wheel to wheel, fender to fender racing continues at both venues.
Friday, August 14 the CRA Super Series Late Models make their annual visit to the Glass City oval for the Allen Chevrolet-Cadillac/Crown RV and Boat Cleaner 100 lap contest. Kyle Busch will bring his own car to compete with the CRA regulars, and will be challenged by Indiana native Scott Hantz, who is one of the hottest Late Model drivers in the Midwest. Hantz took all 3 outlaw-bodied Late Model races at Toledo this season and is looking forward to the challenge of racing against Busch and the rest of the CRA drivers. A total of 25 cars have already entered the 100 lap event for the stock-bodied CRA Late Models.In addition to the CRA 100 lap race, the track's weekly ARCA Sportsman, Speedway Tire and Auto Factory Stocks and the 4 Cylinders will also be in action. The Sportsman and 4 Cylinders will run features only, while the Factory Stocks will compete in a full race card. A large group of former racers will gather and will be introduced as part of the Racer's Reunion in observation of Toledo's 50th anniversary season. A group of vintage race cars will also be on display at the track Friday evening.
Busch will sign autographs for 1 hour at his souvenir trailer Friday night after CRA qualifying, which begins at 6 p.m. All plans hinge on Kyle's schedule at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) Friday afternoon.
Tickets will go on sale at 3 p.m. Friday. ALL tickets are general admission and there is no pre-sale. The front gates will open at 3:30, practice begins at 4, time trials start at 6 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m. Adults are $20 each, children 6-14 are $3 and under 6 are free.
Flat Rock Speedway will host NASCAR driver David Ragan Saturday, August 15 as part of the Leppen Chiropractic Autograph Night. Ragan will arrive at Flat Rock after the Nationwide race at MIS Saturday afternoon. He is expected to be at the track around 7:30 p.m. Prior to that, the track's ARCA Moran Chevrolet/Miller Lite Late Models, Figure 8's and Street Stocks will have their own on-track autograph session for the fans at 6:15. Ragan will also sign autographs for the fans.
The United Way of Monroe County Night is also part of the August 15 festivities. The charity will hold their annual raffle drawing at the speedway as part of the kick-off to their upcoming fundraising campaign. The track will also host a Racer's Reunion Saturday, and the speedway will also greet the Monroe County Firefighters as their guests. A vintage race car display will be located in the spectator concourse. Each of the 3 classes-Late Models, Figure 8's and Street Stocks--will compete in full race cards.
All tickets are general admission and will go on sale at 3 p.m. Saturday at the track. There is no pre-sale. Practice begins at 3, time trials are set for 4:30, the on-track autograph session goes at 6:15 and racing starts at 7 p.m. Adults are $11, children 6-14 are $3 and under 6 are free.
