1970-FAIR TAKES MID-SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP AT TOLEDO
Joy Fair made it two for two, taking the 50-lap ARCA Late Model feature Sunday night at Toledo Speedway on the heels of a win in the 50-lapper Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway. Joe Ruttman led the Toledo main event from the onset and paced the first 23 tours around the half mile oval until Fair took the point.
John Anderson moved into 2nd and pressured Fair until being forced out on lap 40 with axle trouble. Ruttman held on for 2nd while Jerry Makara came home 3rd. Danny Byrd and Buzz Kormos rounded out the top 5. Fran Harden won the 4-car dash while Byrd and Bob Rouston won heats. Anderson edged Byrd on the final lap of the Australian Pursuit race. Fair paced the 28-car field with a clocking of 18.13 seconds, however did not compete in any preliminary action as the Bob Gillelan-Russ Wainscott team repaired the rear axle in his Chevelle. In the wild ARCA Figure-8 feature it was Chuck Hall again dominating, posting his 5th feature event win of the season over Bud Howell.
