Rollie Beale
Rollie Beale was a Toledo native, as well as former USAC Series director for a number of years. Beale raced against many of the biggest names of this era of open wheel racing, the history books including names like Pancho Carter, Joy Fair, Larry Dickson, and others.
He captured 32 USAC sprint features between 1966 and 1981, building a strong resume as one of the stalwarts of one of the toughest divisions in motorsports. In 1973, he took the USAC Sprint Car division championship.
Ron Hemelgarn
Toledo businessman Ron Hemelgarn, who sponsors the USAC Silver Crown Rollie Beale 100, won the 1996 Indianapolis 500 as the owner of the car driven by Buddy Lazier.
Hemelgarn is a long-time business owner in Toledo, owning the Super Fitness chain of gymnasiums. He is a long-time lover of racing, once hitchhiking from his native Dayton, Ohio to the Indianapolis 500.
A friendly face around the track, Hemelgarn has been an ardent
supporter of Toledo Speedway for many years, and continues to support the track to this day.
Back in 2020, Ron Drager, Owner and Promoter of the track said “Ron Hemelgarn was one of the very first to reach out to my business partner Roy Mott and myself back in 1999 and asked what he could do to support Toledo Speedway and grass-roots racing.” Continuing, “He has always been there for the racers and the track for the 21 years we have been there,”
