POINT LEADER JACK IN FOR MORAN CHEVROLET/STAN YEE MEMORIAL 150
(FLAT ROCK, MI - July 24, 2013) - Current ARCA Glass City Gold Cup Late Model Series point leader Brent Jack of Auburn, IN has added his name to the entry list for Saturday’s Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150 at Flat Rock Speedway. As of Noon Wednesday, the entry list now stands at 39 cars, with a few more expected prior to the Saturday event.
Fellow Hoosier driver Scott Hantz is also now entered. Scott finished second to winner Mike Root in the 2012 edition of the race at Flat Rock. He also won the first Gold Cup race of 2013 at Toledo. Flat Rock regulars Scott Pemberton, Derrick Sheppard, Paul Calo, Jim Bailey and Dan Trosen Jr., former Toledo track champ and Canadian resident Don St. Denis and16 year-old rookie Josh Spragg have also filed entries.
...ENTRY LIST GOES TO 43 FOR MORAN CHEVROLET/STAN YEE MEMORIAL 150
(FLAT ROCK, MI - July 25, 2013) - An incredible 43 cars are now entered for the 2013 edition of the Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150 at Flat Rock Speedway, set for Saturday, July 27.
...3rd RAIN DELAY CANCELS FLAT ROCK
The 3rd rain shower proved to be the demise, as a heavy rain finally washed out the Moran Chevrolet-Stan Yee Memorial 150.
The 150 lap race will now be Saturday, August 10.
...FLAT ROCK READY FOR JOY FAIR-STAN YEE MEMORIAL SATURDAY
Saturday, August 10 is the date for the rescheduled Joy Fair Memorial-Stan Yee Memorial 150, sponsored by Moran Chevrolet and Diamond Racing Products. The ARCA Glass City Gold Cup Late Model Series race will go 150 all-green flag laps for the biggest race of the season at the track. The ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman division will make its second visit to Flat Rock and compete in a 50 lap feature, while the Parts Galore Figure 8 division will stage a 20 lap feature on the Figure 8 track.
...PHIL BOZELL CAPTURES JOY FAIR MEMORIAL-STAN YEE MEMORIAL 150
(FLAT
ROCK, Michigan - August 10, 2013) - Phil
Bozell, making his first-ever start at Flat Rock Speedway, nosed by Harold Fair
Jr. with 10 laps to go, setting up another incredible finish as 4 cars
resembling a 4 car dash battled to the wire in the Joy Fair Memorial-Stan Yee
Memorial 150, sponsored by Moran Chevrolet and Diamond Racing Products. Bozell had enough to nip Terry
Senneker, Fair Jr. and Dennis Strickland to win the event, which saw the first
83 laps run without a yellow flag.
As was the case in the 2012 edition of this race, which saw Mike Root pass 2 cars on the high side in the closing laps, this story cannot properly describe this 150 lap classic. It’s very simple—ask anyone that witnessed this race, which was leg number 5 of the Glass City Gold Cup Series.
Members of the Fair and Yee family presented the Gold Cups and trophy to Phil in the Sun Drop Winners Circle. A large crowd turned out to fill the Joy Fair Grandstand and witnessed tremendous competition, as 42 cars were on hand for the prestigious race, which has become one of the “can’t miss” Late Model races in the area.
The Fair Memorial, which was originally scheduled for 100
laps, was rained out June 22 and again July 6.
The Yee Memorial fell victim to rain July 27, and with the 2013 schedule
winding down, the 2 Memorial events were reset and combined into 1 race for
Saturday, honoring Joy Fair and Stan Yee Sr.

JACK GRABS MILLER LITE 100 TOLEDO VICTORY; HANTZ, WHISMAN, O’LEARY SEASON CHAMPS
(TOLEDO, Ohio - August 16, 2013) - Brent Jack scored the victory in the Miller Lite 100 for the ARCA Glass City Gold Cup/Main Event Late Model Series feature Friday night at Toledo Speedway. Scott Hantz, by virtue of his second place run, captured the 2013 Gold Cup championship, while Dennis Whisman and Tommy O’Leary secured the track championships in their respective classes. NASCAR Talladega 500 winner David Ragan greeted fans prior to the beginning of the race card.
The 100 lap Late Model contest with filled with attrition as just 9 cars finished the event. Despite that number, a great battle up front for the lead kept things exciting for a better part of the race. Harold Fair Jr. led the first 4 laps, until Jake Francis grabbed the top spot after a lap 5 restart. Brent Jack had a fuel leak and that sent 6 cars sliding and spinning down the backchute. Jack pitted and rejoined the field. Jake sped away, but a lap 13 red stopped the action when Jeff Ganus had his car catch fire going down the backstretch. Jeff would return to the race late in the event. Scott Hantz, the fast qualifier at 15:008 for the 24 car field, took the point on lap 27 from Francis. On lap 29, Fair darted down pit road with overheating woes.

Bellieve it or not, it's dry at Toledo Speedway and practice is a go at 5 p.m. for the 23rd running of the Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200. The 2 hour session, weather permitting, will give drivers a chance to dial in their cars before qualifying and the 200 Saturday.
A pair of late entries have arrived on the grounds, and their names are quite familiar to Late Model fans; Birmingham, Al driver Augie Grill and former Toledo champ Don St. Denis.
Grill will be at the wheel of Jerry Artuso's Car #5, while St. Denis returns to the track 5 years after his infamous altercation with Michael Simko. The video of the incident, which gained world-wide attention, occured during a red flag of the Glass City 200. Simko laid a flying drop kick on the windshield of St. Denis' car, and then the duo squared off in a short boxing match.
Saturday's schedule has practice at noon, time trials at 3 and racing at 5 p.m. For all the details regarding the Glass City 200 and for the practice times after tonight's 2 hour session, log onto www.toledospeedway.com or www.arcaracing.com.

AUGIE GRILL TAKES GREAT LAKES HELICOPTERS GLASS CITY 200 WIN
(TOLEDO, Ohio - October 1, 2011) - A pair of Snowball Derby wins, numerous big event victories and championships and now a Glass City 200 title. Birmingham, AL driver Augie Grill added that crown to his impressive resume by winning Saturday night’s Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200 at Toledo Speedway in front of a good crowd on a very cold and windy evening. Grill’s victory was worth $7,850 out of a purse of over $57,000 in cash and awards.
...Trackside Tidbits, by Debi Domby
I have one more column, the champions. If you haven't sent me something on your
season, send me something next week to the email at the end of the article.
Augie Grill won the 23rd annual Glass City 200 sponsored by Great Lakes Helicopters Saturday night at Toledo Speedway. He led 175 laps enroute to the victory and a total of $7,850 ($5,500 for the win, $1,750 lap money, $200 halfway and $400 from Francis Engineering). The phrase “on rails” comes to mind for his dominating run. What makes it all the more amazing is he had never raced at Toledo before (although he said it reminded him of Five Flag Speedway in Pensacola, Fla.), let alone run an outlaw late model (he normally drives a template bodied Late Model).
