It was probably one of the warmest opening nights we've had in several years. I like many fans probably wondered if we'd have some sparse numbers of cars this year with all the economic problems. There were 38 in the Street Stock division; 19 in the Super Late Models and 18 Figure 8's. For the Figure 8's that was one of the largest fields on opening night for several years. ...

Flat Rock, MI (5-9-09)-- Despite plunging temperatures, brisk winds and an early rain shower, Flat Rock Speedway completed its Ray Hunter Florist-sponsored Mother's Day Special event Saturday evening. A brief rain set in at 3 p.m., but track officials decided to march on with the program. The rain stayed to the north of the track and the fans that did brave the elements witnessed an exciting night of racing. Eric Lee, Jerry Lee, Randy DeMaggio and Jim Stocker captured feature wins. Each mom received free admission for the night and a carnation, courtesy of Ray Hunter Florist. ...

1970-JOHN ANDERSON EARNS HARD FOUGHT WIN

John Anderson, a graduate of the ARCA Figure-8 ranks, is experiencing a breakout season in the ARCA Late Model division. The young Anderson defeated perennial track champion Joy Fair in the 50-lap ARCA Late Model feature at the Toledo Speedway.

1990-VANDERLAAN WINNER IN ROUND 1 OF ROUMELL 900 SERIES

Toledo Speedway held the first leg of the Chuck Roumell 900 Series, thus named based on the previous year's champion. Over 30 late models entered the 100-lap season opener, making for a strong field and a competitive event.

Flat Rock, MI (6-6-09)--  Second-generation driver Billy Earley jumped behind the wheel of Rob Martel’s car after his ride encountered engine trouble, and piloted the machine to the win in the 50 lap ARCA Figure 8 feature event Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway.  Tim Moore, James Rae and Brad Turner also scored wins on Allen Chevrolet/Cadillac Family Night/Racing Fan Club Night at the track.  Tom Allen presented trophies to the winners.

FLAT ROCK, MI: (6-10-09): Flat Rock Speedway officials have just announced that additional bonus money will once again be added to the purse for Flat Rock Speedway's biggest Late Model race of the season, the Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150, set for Saturday evening, June 27 at the ¼ mile paved oval. Each of dollar figures for the 24 starting positions will now end in 33, which adds money to each spot. And new for 2009, the fast qualifier will have the chance to take The Challenge, which will award a $1000 bonus if he starts last and wins the 150 lap event.

Condolences to Flat Rock Speedway ARCA Official Sherry Whitenburg and family on the death of her mother, Dorothy Schutt, who passed away unexpectedly last weekend. 1960-AL BEALE WINS FIRST-EVER EVENT STAGED AT NEW TOLEDO SPEEDWAY

Al Beale, who with his brother Rollie form the famed Toledo racing Beale Brothers duo, captured the first-ever event at the Toledo Speedway before a good opening night crowd.

FLAT ROCK, MI: (6-20-09): Flat Rock Speedway received nearly 4 inches of rain overnight, flooding the track and parking lot. Track officials worked up until race time to get the speedway in shape for Big Red Crème Soda Night, and the fans were treated to a night filled with action! The 3 oval features were decided by a car length or less and a pair of contests on the Figure 8 track were packed with excitement and fender banging. Jeremy Miller, Tim Moore, James Rae, Shawn Bershback and the duo of Howard Kelley Jr. and Tom O'Leary III were feature winners.

Ed Knakiewicz, an active ARCA Official since 1964 and a familiar face at Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways, was hospitalized Wednesday and diagnosed with a blood clot in his leg. TOLEDO, OH: (6-26-09): Defending champ Jim Froling avoided the "big one" and sailed to victory in the 50 lap ARCA Sportsman feature Friday evening at Toledo Speedway. Speedway Tire and Auto, 7-Up and the Destination Toledo Convention and Visitors Bureau sponsored the night of racing at the Glass City oval. Shaun Mills, representing Speedway Tire, presented the trophies in the Glass Bowl Lanes Winner's Circle. ...

FLAT ROCK, MI: (6-27-09): Mike Luberda was one of the first to arrive at Flat Rock Speedway Saturday afternoon. Luberda hurried through the gates and up to the edge of the speedway as track personnel started moving equipment in place for the 2nd Annual Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150, his memories going back to the one and only time he visited the track, back in the mid-1970's with his father, Mike Sr., for one of the Wednesday night Michigan Speedway Promoter's Association Late Model shows.

For the July 11 Triple 50's and Fireworks Night, the Figure 8's WILL NOT RUN HEAT RACES.

**It is very important that the Fireworks display goes off as early as possible.  There are always a huge number of kids at this show; we have also decided to allow kids in FREE July 11.

TOLEDO, OH: (7-3-09): Perfect weather conditions greeted a good crowd that gathered for the return of the USAC National Sprint and Midget tours to Toledo Speedway Friday evening. Ron Hemelgarn, the 1996 Indy 500 winning car owner and a local area businessman, spoke to the crowd in pre-race ceremonies. The race card was sponsored by Hemelgarn Racing and Super Fitness. Bobby Santos III and Bobby East picked up the feature wins. Jim Young, who set fast time in the very first race at Toledo 50 years ago in 1960, sang the national anthem and received a rousing ovation from the fans. Complete Results

RACE MOVED FROM ORIGINAL JULY 31 DATE

TOLEDO, OH: (7-9-09): Toledo Speedway officials have announced that NASCAR STAR KYLE BUSCH will compete in the CRA Super Series Late Model 100 Friday evening, August 14. The CRA race, originally scheduled for July 31, is being moved to the August 14 date.

Busch, one of the top stars in all 3 of NASCAR'S major circuits, has been a frequent competitor with the CRA Super Series Late Models this season. Busch, already in the area for the Michigan International Speedway (MIS) race weekend, will make his way 60 miles south to Toledo Friday, August 14 after his duties at the wheel of the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing machine are completed at MIS.

1960-BEALE BROTHERS SHINE

Al Beale became the first repeat feature winner at the new Toledo Speedway, taking the 20-lap supermodified feature. Beale started in the 9th slot in the Butler-Frowns ride and quickly moved to the front by lap 5. Ralph McLennan provided some tough competition coming in the runnerup spot, with Rollie Beale rounding out the top 3, fresh off setting the new track record in qualifications. Al Beale also captured the pursuit and fast heat, while McLennan prevailed in the 4-car dash.

TOLEDO, Ohio (July 21, 2009)--Flat Rock, Michigan's Ricky Kargel (defending race winner) and Clinton Township, Michigan's Eric Lee are the latest drivers to submit entries for this Saturday's All Sport 100 ARCA Moran Chevrolet/Miller Lite Late Model Hantz Group/Allegiant Air Gold Cup Series race at Flat Rock Speedway. UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO MARCHING BAND TO PERFORM IN PRE-RACE SHOW
TOLEDO, OH: (7-28-09): In a little more than a month, the superspeedway-style stock cars of the ARCA RE/MAX Series will make the trip to Toledo Speedway for the ARCA 200 presented by Belle Tire. The date is Friday evening, September 4, marking the first RE/MAX event under the lights at Toledo in 3 years. Tickets are now on sale for the event, which includes the University of Toledo Marching Band as part of the pre-race activities.

TOLEDO, OH: (7-28-09): NASCAR's Kyle Busch went right from the Brickyard on Sunday back to the short tracks Monday night and sailed to victory at the Anderson, IN ¼ mile oval in the 300 lap CRA Super Series Late Model race. Busch will be in competition at Toledo Speedway Friday evening, August 14 for the Allen Chevrolet/Cadillac CRA 100 lap contest at the ½ mile Glass City oval.
