FLAT ROCK , MI: (6-5-10): Flat Rock Speedway fans got wet again Saturday evening, as rain set in just after 1 heat race was completed. The Fasten Right Roofing Family Night fell victim to the elements, putting the end to racing for the third time already this season.
ALL rain checks from the June 5 date will be honored at their face value, and must be exchanged at the ticket windows upon arrival to the track. The Monroe County 4-H tickets will be honored June 19. The rain checks are valid for any remaining event on the 2010 schedule.
A total of 19 Figure 8 cars were at the track, with Robbie Loving setting the pace with a new track record of 20:400 on the Figure 8 course. The division was slated to run heats and a 50 lap feature. The qualifying times and the heat and feature lineups will be transferred to next Saturday's show, including the 50 lap main event.
The ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock class got 1 heat race in before the skies opened up. Dan Ford Jr. continued his fast time streak by leading the 37 car field with a lap of 13:449. Harold Davis Jr. led the B Main cars at 14:019. Clyde McKee posted the heat race win. In order to allow each driver the same opportunity to earn heat race points, the division will complete the remainder of the A and B Main heats at the start of the June 19 show. The class will also stage a complete new program with time trials, heat races and main events based on the June 19 time trials.
Brad Turner led the ARCA 4 Cylinders in time trials with a lap of 15:112 around the 1/4 mile paved oval.
The Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club honored Street Stock driver Harold Davis Jr. in pre-race activities. Harold was presented a uniform bag courtesy of the club. His father, Harold Davis Sr., was the 1961 then-Modified class champ at Flat Rock.
Saturday, June 12 Flat Rock Speedway plays host to the wildly-popular Marco's Pizza School Bus Figure 8 races! In addition to the bus races, the ARCA Figure 8's will stage a 50 lap feature, with the ARCA Toledo Speedway Factory Stocks and the ARCA 4 Cylinders also in action.
Reserved seating is available by calling the track at 734-782-2480. All reserved seats, regardless of age, are $16 each. ALL general admission tickets and all children's tickets go on sale at 4 p.m. race day. General admission tickets are $15 each, children 6-14 are $3 and under 6 are free.
The pit area will open at 4, with the front gates and the ticket office also opening at 4. Practice begins at 5, time trials are set for 6:15 and racing begins at 7 p.m.
