TOLEDO PREPARES FOR FASTEST SHORT TRACK SHOW FRIDAY NIGHT

TOLEDO PREPARES FOR FASTEST SHORT TRACK SHOW FRIDAY NIGHT

Toledo, Ohio—September 8, 2015:  The tradition continues this Friday, September 11 as Toledo Speedway hosts the re-scheduled All American Coach/Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness “Fastest Short Track Show in the World” starring the MSA Winged Super Modifieds and the winged Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints (AVBBSS).  A Vintage Race Car display and pace laps for the cars of yesterday will also be a part of the festivities for the evening

The original date of June 12 fell victim to the weather.  A rain date of Saturday, September 12 has also been established if needed.

While the probable entry lists are not as strong as in the past for both classes, this event, created by Toledo track management in 2001, has been a mainstay on the Toledo schedule and creates an exciting atmosphere with the 2 fastest short track race car classes on the planet.

“The concept of this event, running the 2 open-wheel classes on the same race card, has become a can’t-miss event for race fans of all types of racing,” noted Ron Drager, promoter of Toledo Speedway.  “We are very pleased to have this race on our schedule.  The rich tradition of open-wheel racing at Toledo Speedway, the involvement of our sponsors and the response from our fan base all factored into the creation of the rain date for this Friday night.”

The absolute track record fell on June 26 when Aaron Pierce stunned the crowd at the King of the Wing Sprint Car race at Toledo with an incredible lap of 12:220, while the Super Modified record stands at 12:893, set by Chris Perley of Maine in 2009.

The Toledo date will serve as the final 2015 point race for the AVBBSS Sprinters.  Aaron Pierce leads Jason Blonde, Kevin Feeney, Kyle Edwards and Tom Geren going into Friday night’s finale for the Sprinters.  The MSA Super Modifieds have 1 more race after Toledo.  Jim Paller, Jon Henes, AJ Lesiecki, Charlie Schultz and Kevin Jaycox Jr. make up the top 5 point men with 2 races to go in 2015.  The MSA championship race will be held at Sandusky Speedway September 19.

The speedway is offering a $5 discount pre-race ticket sale for the September 11 contest, if purchased before 5 p.m. Thursday, September 10.  The track will offer both reserved seating (with backrests) and general admission tickets for the advance sale.  Major credit cards are accepted for phone orders and on race day.  To obtain advance tickets, please call the track office at 419-727-1100 or the ticket order form may be downloaded from the track’s webpage.

The pit area will open at 2, practice begins at 4 and the front gates will also open at 4.  The much-anticipated time trials hit the track at 6 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.  Log onto www.toledospeedway.com for further information and updates.  Like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/toledoflatrock or follow us on Twitter @toledospeedway.
