TEAMS TAKE TO TRACK FOR TOLEDO PRACTICE
(Toledo, Ohio - April 29, 2014 (delayed): Toledo Speedway held a test and tune session Sunday, April 27. The ½ mile paved oval saw ARCA Truck Series teams, ARCA Aramark Sportsman teams and 2013 Glass City 200 Late Model winner Dennis Strickland take laps on a very cool and windy afternoon. Toledo’s Matt Ringger toured the ¼ mile with his X Car/Enduro car during the test session.
Defending track champ Jim Froling, 7-time king Ron Allen, Norm Lewallen, Mike Young, Greg Stilwell, Kent McCloskey, David Hinjosa and Chad Guinn hit the ½ mile in their Sportsman machines. Guinn, a former ARCA Truck champ, as well as a past competitor in the ARCA Sportsman and Late Model division, will drive the number 1 car as a teammate to 2003 champion Howard Kelley Jr. this season.
Jeff Myers Jr. and Brad Yunker also zipped around the high banks in their ARCA Trucks during the afternoon at the Glass City oval.
The speedway has installed a total of 8 (eight) foam blocks in both the turn 1 and turn 3 area of the ½ mile paved oval as an additional safety measure for the upcoming season.
Friday night racing begins May 9, with the ARCA Aramark Sportsman on the ½ mile, with the ARCA Praxair Figure 8’s and the ARCA R & M Recycling X Cars on the short track. The track will also host Scout Night May 9, with all Scouts in uniform admitted FREE as guests of the speedway.
The pit gates will open at 3:30, practice begins at 5, time trials are at 6:30 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m. The spectator gates will open at 5. Log onto www.toledospeedway.com for more information.
