Clay Rogers took to the Lowe's Motor Speedway for the first time during recent ARCA RE/MAX Series open testing. With over 20 teams testing, Rogers was aboard his own Fire Protection Services Ford Taurus for the practice session.
Rogers times placed him third quickest among some stout competition. Rogers even got a feel for what it's like to lose the car between turns 3 and 4. After quickly regaining control Rogers said, "It’s all reaction, quick thinking and staying on top of the wheel at all times, plus, being 22 years old and having 14 years of driving experience helps a little too.’
Rogers has entered into the ARCA RE/MAX Series ranks to seek more competition, gain seat time and to develop his reactions and responses on the faster tracks. By Rogers not rushing his career and jumping into ‘limited opportunities’, honing his driving skills will hopefully pay off, not only for him, but for the team and sponsors who call on him, in the near future.
Rogers originally entered into the NASCAR Busch Series in 2001 with Reiser Enterprises and was called on to drive for the #34 team of Frank Cicci Racing, Inc this season. ‘Things don’t always work out like you would hope they would, but when the right team with the right opportunity calls, I will be there ready to strap in and go.’
Rogers also seeks to race in the NASCAR Busch Series or the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2003. Rogers is expected to enter in select races in the ARCA RE/MAX Series in 2003 with his first start at Lowe's Motor Speedway on Thursday, May 22nd in the ADG 100 Presented by Easy Care.
